Willingness for Dude Ranches

Posted by Saiful in Outdoors on 03 10th, 2010

It seems as though people are always running after something in particular. People always want the newest and fastest things in the world, and they won‘t be satisfied until they have it all. It is no one person’s fault that we are so materialistic these days, but of course the growing media never helps. We know we have the power to change the looks of tomorrow by simply experimenting with knowledge today. In this day and age, the more exotic the location you travel to, and the more recently your cell phone came out into the market, and the more technological your job is, the more fascinating you are. People have a fixation with new, with fast, and with shiny. It seems that people have forgotten the origin of excitement in American culture. When cowboys rode across the west and wrangling wild stallions was the lay of the land. It doesn’t seem like people are interested in this sort of fun anymore, and places like dude ranches that keep that fun alive are becoming less talked about.

The reasons behind the slowly dying interest in the ranches are rather contrived when you think about it. Not everyone can just take off for a weekend on a ranch, or at least they tell themselves that they can’t, and so they never do.And yet it seems like people are more convinced they can’t spare any time away from the office, and if they can, they would rather be spending it on a beach or in a hotel, not on Dude ranches.

And yet undefined have so many activities and land to roam, it’s hard to think a beach is more appealing to the wide open spaces. There is more to do on a ranch than on a beach resort, and sometimes they are much more rewarding activities. And a trip to a ranch could do more wonders than tanning on an island. Physical activity, whether taking walks down dirt paths or horseback riding, makes the body feel more fit and healthy. Also, an expensive trip to a beach, hotels and restaurants included, could rack up to be much more expensive than a weekend at a ranch, where the meals and beds and activities are all at the same place. All wisdom points towards the direction of the ranches.

But still people do not always like the idea of getting their hands dirty. But think about it this way, when was the last time you preferred having a conference call instead of feeding a horse a carrot?

Is Wearing Black On The Ski Slopes Cool Or Tacky?

Posted by Saiful in Outdoors on 03 8th, 2010

If you have decided to finally do the sensible thing and invest in a ski helmet to protect your brain, then you are to be congratulated. If you are like most of us, you probably spent a lot of time looking at helmets before you bought one. It was not an easy decision, was it?

If you are the practical type, price and quality were your first priority. There are safety standards that apply to all protective headgear, but even so, they all have different features. You had to balance quality with price and that is never easy.

Be honest, though. You probably spent more time thinking about how your headgear was going to look on the slopes than you did thinking about its price or safety features. Sure, you appreciated the aerodynamic features of those expensive helmets, but were probably tempted to buy one more because of how cool it looked.

With those decisions out of the way, you turned your attention to the color of your helmet. You knew the color had nothing to do with how well the helmet worked, but that did not stop you from spending at least as much time thinking about color as you spent thinking about the other stuff.

Strange thoughts probably came into your head regarding color. Would a red one be too radical looking? Would a steel grey one stand out enough? Would it go with the rest of your ski outfit? You probably even wondered if it would clash with your black sport watch or if that even mattered.

You really like the look of one black helmet in particular, but hesitated to buy it because of its color. Black reminds you of Darth Vader and the Gothic look and neither of those looks really appeal to you. Nonetheless, that helmet was awesome looking. Would you take a chance and buy it?

Go for the black color if that is the one you like the most. As long as you do not wear black from top to bottom, you will be on safe ground. What color is your ski parka? What color are your pants? If they are not black, you’ll be okay, even if your ski boots are also black. Just avoid all black at all costs!

Black can be either cool or tacky depending on how you use it. As a rule of thumb, wearing all of any color from head to foot is usually tacky. One exception to that rule might be white, but wearing all white on the ski slopes has its disadvantages. For one thing, people might mistake you for a Ninja assassin. For another, if you get lost or have an accident, nobody will be able to see you. Wear something that contrasts with the color of the snow.

Learning To Ski Or Snowboard Is A Fun Way To Get In Shape

Posted by Saiful in Outdoors on 03 6th, 2010

Becoming healthy requires commitment to both eating right and incorporating exercise into your regimen. Exercising, however, is not easy to make a habit for many individuals who are looking for a way to get in shape without realizing that’s what they’re doing. Nothing is more boring and repetitive than listening to your feet slap against the motorized and moving platform of a treadmill as you run nowhere inside of a gym like a lab rat.

The truth of the matter is that winter offers an abundance of sports that are challenging, invigorating, and fun which makes keeping the pounds off an easy prospect. Skiing and snowboarding are popular sports with ample instructors and schools ready to teach you a more fun way of getting in shape than running or hiking.

Learning a new sport offers a chance to ‘forget’ about the exercise and take pleasure in the learning of a new skill and the coordination of different muscles that will challenge your body in new ways without being trapped in a repetitive exercise cycle with only the sound of your digital sport watch to keep you company. Cold weather exercise is also extremely adept at building endurance due to the requirement of muscles to work harder at colder temperatures.

With the weather so cold, it can easily be overlooked that your body is being taxed. Medical considerations also extend to the need to be safe. Skiing is a high-speed activity with falling down being not a rare consequence and so wearing a ski helmet is imperative for all levels of skiers.

Make sure to keep hydrated all day as it’s unlikely you will notice any signs of dehydration until it’s too late. Also, don’t strain your body by pushing for one more run at the end of the day which is when most injures happen.

While skiing is considered a classical sport, snowboarding has become quite popular over the last decade exploding from an underground activity to an Olympic sport. Because boarders need to steer the snowboard, ankle and foot muscles as well as the calves, quads, and hamstrings are all similarly taxed in the interest of moving down the mountain. Helmets are as paramount in snowboarding as in skiing and with the sartorial rules thrown out the window you can show up with anything from a standard black helmet to one of your own creation.

Essentially surfing on snow, as a snowboarding enthusiast you will be propelling the board through powdery or icy conditions working your ankles and foot muscles as well as your quads, hamstrings, and calves. Whatever your decision either skiing or snowboarding, each sport will challenge your body in unexpected ways.

Where Is The Best Place To Camp

Posted by Saiful in Outdoors on 03 5th, 2010

This article looks at the different tastes that people may have in camping and encourages people to think for themselves when it comes to choosing the ‘best’ place to camp, expressing their own individuality as opposed to just going where everyone recommends, which will not be suitable for everyone.

Campers, it has to be said, are a little like fishermen. Others always seem to have a better story than you. If you have found the best tents, campsite or the best place to camp in the UK, then they have found the best place to camp in the world, if not the Universe. You personal taste will play a large part in finding a great place to camp. What is good for one may not be enjoyed by another.

If you like noise, bustle, people always around, then you are going to love some of the bigger campsites that are around, where you can mingle with the other campers, enjoy some entertainment and have a good time.

The choice of camping tents also can often be bewildering and I will cover this in another article- watch this space!

You could on the other hand, be a camper who would find this a nightmare. If you enjoy the still of nature and want to get away from it all then choose somewhere quieter where you can enjoy the great outdoors and your own company.

Good campsites have the facilities that you are looking for.

Campsites that are not organized are completely different and you need permission to go on them. However, in practice, it is not always possible to trace an owner and ensure that they give you permission.

The camping community can recommend great campsites they have previously stayed at and also the ones they would not recommend. When you wake in the morning you may well discover that the great camping spot you set up the previous night might not turn out to be so good.

You also should figure out what you like and don’t like. What is fabulous for one camper might be another’s idea of hell. Don’t follow the pack, make your own mind up where you camp. Camping is about you as a person and not about just following trends so go your own way and listen to recommendations, but keep a level head, one size does not fit all when it comes to camping.

A Safe Pool Doesn’t Need Chlorine

Posted by Saiful in Outdoors on 03 5th, 2010

There are several alternative ways to maintain your swimming pool to using pool chlorine.

Many people select other methods to keeping their pool clean because they don’t like the toxic nature and odor of water santised with chlorine.   It is not environmentally beneficial to use a lot of strong chemicals on a regular basis.  Also, most people prefer the feel and taste of a non-chlorinated pool.

Salt Generators

A tiny bit of salt added in the pool is changed into chlorine by salt generators.   Do not regularly add chlorine.  A treatment with chlorine of other oxidizing chemical will be needed if the pool becomes contaminated. With salt generators the ph tends to get high so it needs to be analyzed regularly. Muriatic acid will reduce it.

Bromine is more expensive than chlorine and needs to be added more often because it burns off quickly in sunlight but it is nice for sensitive skin and has no bad smell.    Chlorine becomes deactivated when it mixes with harmful contaminants where as bromine continues to work.

Ozone

Impurities react with ozone, a form of oxygen which is active.  Like chlorine, ozone gas, when dissolved in water, combines with impurities and oxidizes them.  They are easily detached from filters because it makes them join together.  This allows chlorine use to be decreased by 60% to 90%.

Copper and Silver

That copper kills algae and silver kills bacteria and viruses is well known.   They have long been used to clean water.   Copper and Silver are ionized by a very small amount of electricity and react with the contaminants in the water destroying them.

They also make the bacteria and algae clump together so they are easier to remove from the filter.   Regular chlorine tabletsusage will be greatly reduced but a periodic shock of the pool with chlorine or a non-chlorine oxidizer will be needed.

Summary

Many people are tired of continually fighting algae, swimming on a regular basis in harsh chemicals, and paying for the amount of pool chemicals needed to keep the swimming pool clean so they turn to alternate pool sanitizers. If you are interested you can find out more by searching online.
