Camp In France, Your Family’s Holidays Will Never Be More Diverse
Posted by Saiful in Camping on 03 8th, 2010Vacationing on the European Continent has changed a great deal over the years and if you should decide to camp in France you will not be disappointed. Camp sites have become more like resorts and with the added convenience of mobile campers and fully equipped family tents, camping will never be the same again.
Camp sites can be found in very attractive country and sea-side settings, and camping is great for exploring any number of these. You just pack up your tent or camper and move on to the next spot. This enables the holiday maker to see as many or as few different places as they like.
Campsites are very well maintained and organized in such a way that everyone’s needs are catered for. By planning your camping holiday carefully, you should be able to find a site that allows to close access to the sea shore and the countryside, this way you can explore miles of these areas, without even having to drive. Make sure you take your bicycles with you as you camp in France.
All areas of France cater for campers, from the Alps to the Vendee, and even the Cote d’Azure! When you camp, everyone in the family can have a great time and you could even take Grandma and Grandad with you.
Royan and Gascony are only two of the areas worth a mention, every where in France has something special to offer. These areas are famous for long sandy beaches, high dunes, and even pine forests, a strange eclectic mixture of landscapes. Congnac vineyards dot the slopes of the River Charente valley and Royan is a popular choice for many campers. The forest of La Coubre surround this area, making it extremely picturesque, and the Island of Oléron, with its ancient citadel may be reach by bridge, this isle also has excellent beaches
Great seafood and wine are served in the many restaurants that cater to families and if you save money camping, then you can eat out with the best of them. No cooking for you! If you really want to taste some good wines, a visit to the Médoc peninsula is highly recommended when you visit the Royan.
One of the most important oyster farming areas can be found just south of Bordeaux, and Bordeaux wines are also world recognized. Yes oysters are farmed, but perhaps in not the conventional sense! Bordeaux is also world renowned for the fine wine it produces and while the kids are entertaining themselves with organized activities at your campsite, you could be off enjoying some seriously adult fun, wine tasting.

Car Hire Advice
Posted by Saiful in Camping on 02 27th, 2010
Sometimes we always assume that we know everything there is to know about car hire. It is only when things go wrong that people realize how little they know about car hire. This article gives you a few tips to think about when hiring a car.
The size of the car needs to be considered as it affects fuel consumtion and costs. The number of people who will be using the car and for what purpose should also brought into consideration. If it’s going to be two to four people using the car for simple travel purposes then cars in the small range can be considered. They save on fuel and are available at very low rates.
The kind of roads that you will be using, you do not want to rent a car with a low suspension when you are going to be traveling long distances or on rough roads. Another thing is if you can schedule your journey to be mid-week then it’s better than over the weekend or holidays. Different rates apply for the week days and the weekends.
Reading the lease agreement will not take too much of your time, make sure you pay attention to every detail. Each agency has its own set of rules that are different from those of another. The lease agreement is a legal document and if anything goes wrong you cannot say that you did not know.
One thing that should pay particular attention to is the clause regarding who is eligible to drive the vehicle. You can register extra drivers on the agreement but it will be at an extra cost. There are terms and conditions that also apply to traveling with minors.
Some of the local car hire agencies that are recommended include any one of the following: budget car hire cape town south africa budget car hire bloemfontein car rental rondebosch
When renting a car make sure you understand the risk that you carry and the risk that is covered by the car rental company. Having the correct information is better than not thinking you know.
Tips for a Successful Group Camping Trip
Posted by Saiful in Camping on 02 27th, 2010I do most of my camping these days with North Texas Adventures which is not a hard core camping group. These days even those who appreciate their comforts in life can enjoy camping. If you bring a pump up air mattress with sheets, a comforter, and pillows you’ll forget you’re not in your own bed at home! Given how large tents are these days even a queen size mattress does not need to take up the whole tent.
If you are at a campsite with electricity, consider bringing a fan to plug in which helps beat the heat in your tent. This comes in handy in the hot Texas heat. For colder weather camping, bring some sleeping bags for added warmth.
With today’s amenities there is no need to “rough it” on a camping trip. Keep this in mind when you develop your guest list.Even folks that insist they don’t like to camp may enjoy modern day camping that can have much of the comforts of home.
Some of my happiest camping memories are sitting around the fire at night. This is a great time to relax and tell stories of your adventures from that day, like the time I ran over a rattlesnake on my mountain bike, and my buddy, to avoid the rattlesnake ran his bike straight into a cactus! Ouch! Meanwhile you can roast some marshmallows or enjoy a few beers.
Make sure to bring lots of firewood to burn, as there is nothing worse than having the fire burn out just as the party is getting started.Fires are a lot of fun that most campers will even enjoy them in warm weather.I remember waiting for the sun to go down after a 93 degree day so we could light a fire!
One of our favorite night time activities is a good game of Texas Hold’em poker, this is very popular in our DFW Outdoors Club
This can be great for beginners who sometimes are lucky enough to bring the pot home. This happened with my girlfriend and I was so embarrassed when she won and waved the cash around in the air singing “I am the winner!” at the top of her big lungs. Fortunately for all of us, her beginner’s luck soon ran out and it was much quieter at the next game.
So make sure to bring some games or items for entertainment that appeal to your group. Some of the other items I bring for fun are a football, bean bag toss game, Frisbee, fishing poles, a bicycle and of course a deck of cards.
Don’t forget a lanten. You may need it to find your way to the tent after a beginner takes your money at poker! Finally it is important to remember, Don’t mess with Texas! We take looking after the camp area seriously, what ever state you are in, as we do with our Dallas Fort Worth Hiking Club. Do a good deed and leave the campsite cleaner than you found it.Do a good walk through to make sure we minimize our foot print on our great state parks and camping area’s. We all will appreciate you doing your part.
Thank you for reading this article and I hope these tips help you have a more successful and fun camping trip!

When Buying A Tent You Should Consider The Hydrostatic Head And The Sun Protection Factor
Posted by Saiful in Camping on 02 7th, 2010META: There are certain aspects that we must consider when buying a tents for camping. Two of these important elements that you must contemplate while purchasing a tent are the hydrostatic head and the sun protection factor.
Tents are available in various kinds of material that are suitable for different weather conditions. Canvas, cotton, nylon, polyester and felt are all fabrics that are available. Canvas can absorb water but it can also become very bulky once it takes in all the water. The nylon and polyester types do not take in much water and are therefore lightweight, they can also be completely waterproof if the right kind of coating has been used on them. The fabrics over the years will tend to wear as they are exposed to constant harsh UV rays. It is therefore necessary to see how much resistance each kind of tent fabric has against natural conditions such as the sunlight and rain.
Tents use coatings to protect them. Polyurethane is used on nylon and polyester tents. The coatings are available with different resistance power and the strength of this resistance is generally measured in Hydrostatic Head. The greater the hydrostatic head the longer the coating will last and the greater the durability of the tent. Resistance against rain is calculated in millimetres and the different levels indicate the force of water required to enter the fabric. More pressure is added by a heavy down pour in comparison to that of a light shower.
If a fabric indicates a hydrostatic head of 1000mm, it can be classified as good enough for a light shower. A hydrostatic head of 1500mm in a tent fabric is appropriate for summer camps while 2000mm fabrics are durable for more weather types like 4 season tents. Flysheets can be a good 5000mm and above while groundsheets can exceed this limit. If you are going on an expedition you need a tent fabric with a hydrostatic head of 3000mm.
The other aspect that we must take into consideration while selecting a good quality tent is the sun protection factor. You should only expose yourself to the harsh ultraviolet rays of the sun for so long, so be sure to check the SPF or sun protection factor as this will show you how long you are allowed to expose yourself for. The greater the SPF number the more protection you have from the sun. Not only are tent fabrics checked for water resistance, they are also marked for the UV protection; this is usually between SPF35 and SPF50. Tents are available with higher SPF protection; the only problem is you will pay extra.
However it is always more sensible to buy a tent that provides you the maximum SPF protection because you are outdoors for several days and need the best safety measures for your skin. You need to ensure that you are safe from the suns rays at all times. Purchasing a tent that is of good quality is a good start as the harsh ultraviolet rays will not be able to penetrate the tents fabric.
It is important you take good care of your tent; after all, it certainly takes good care of you. To ensure that it lasts longer after beating the extreme heat and heavy rainfall, you must take care that it is stored properly without too many bends and folds. The folds of the tent will clearly show the wear and tear of the tents fabric; this will show you whether it has been cared for or not. So make sure it protects you as much as you protect it.
